The EVOLUTION ISSUE
Welcome to the Evolution Issue! Each month I strive to bring the hottest images and now videos to the internet. I would like to thank EVERYONE who has followed my website since it's inception. I would like to thank YOU for reading it now and forwarding it on to your friends and family.
Why the Evolution Issue? Well, each day we all evolve. Some evolve faster than others, but we all evolve every day. I challenge everyone to become their own evolution, create the changes that you wish to see in your life. Build greater relationships, create and accomplish new goals, complete unfinished projects.... EVOLVE.
As many of you know, I spent a month in Cape Town, South Africa where my life changed forever! I was volunteering at a high school where I was told that the students came from extreme poverty and sordid lives. Going into the situation, I must admit I was nervous because there I was in another country, where I didn't speak the native tongue, I was surrounded by 1300 high school students, and exactly how sordid were their lives? I embraced my fear and met as many of the students that I could. The experience was much better than I anticipated. The students loved me. In fact, they treated me like a celebrity. They wanted to know about New York and American culture. They were eager to talk in front of the camera (more on that later). I fell in love with South Africa.
In my free time, I was able to explore Cape Town and the townships. The townships would be the equivalent to our "hoods". You had to see these places, the people lived in shacks, nothing like I'd ever seen here in the states, at least not where I'm from. One thing that I became aware of was their sense of community and brotherhood. They don't have sexuality issues there, the people speak to each other and everywhere you looked, there were BLACK PEOPLE. Smile.
The scenery was breathtaking. I made my way to the top of Table Mountain which overlooked Robben's Island, where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned. I saw exotic plants and flowers that we purchase at the florist. These people see these flowers along the side of the road the way we see dandelions and other weeds. I saw wildlife roaming about as we drove along the highways and byways.
Ultimately, the highlight of my entire South African experience were the friends that I made with some of the locals and most importantly the 16 students that I taught leadership to. I will never forget how they changed my life. The Evolution continues...
